G. Ronald Biermann

Artist Bio

G. Roland Biermann is a conceptual artist from Germany, working with photography, film, sculpture and installation.  He currently lives and works in London. Biermann explores uncertainty, ambivalence and transformation in time, space and society, and situations where reality and fiction merge.  He often visualizes the results of his inquiries in the form of polyptychs and larger sequences of images.  In his series snow+concrete, for example, he prints photographs on fused glass and concrete panels, exploring ideas of cyclical time through dichotomies of light and dark, soft and hard, reality and spirituality, concrete and nature.  He has had major solo exhibitions at venues including the Hermitage Museum / De Hoftuin in Amsterdam, Maestro Arts and the German Embassy in London, Galerie du Monde and the Hong Kong Arts Centre, the Goethe-Institut in Paris, and Dommuseum in Frankfurt.
