Artist Bio

Dua Abbas Rizvi is a visual artist and writer based in Lahore, Pakistan. Her artwork has been part of exhibitions at home and abroad, including Stations of the Cross (New York) and Art for Education: Contemporary Artists from Pakistan (Milan). Her writings on art and culture, with a focus on South Asian and Islamic art and history, have been published in Pakistani and foreign English-language newspapers, journals, and anthologies and she was recently awarded a South Asia Speaks Fellowship for her first book, a graphic novel-in-progress. As both an artist and writer, Rizvi gravitates towards South Asian women’s lives and their devotional, narrative, and historiographic practices, particularly in a postcolonial and feminist context.
