Güler Ates
Artist Bio
Güler Ates was born in Muş, Eastern Turkey and lives and works in the United Kingdom. She received her MA from the Royal College of Art and is now Digital Print Tutor at the Royal Academy Schools. Ates’ multidisciplinary work includes video, photography, printmaking, and performance, through which she explores a constellation of themes, including diasporic experience, the ambiguities of domestic space, and the legacies of colonialism. Ates has held residencies and exhibited widely around the world from Naples to Porto, Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro, and Okinawa. Her works are in collections including the UK Government Art Collection, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Royal Academy of Arts, Huis Marseille Museum for Photography, Museum Van Loon in Amsterdam, the Museum of Oriental Art in Turin, and the Museu de Arte do Rio in Brazil.
